Mustang sales might be inconsistent stateside, but in China Ford’s pony car is one of a host of vehicles that is selling well. Truly a global company, Ford’s year-over-year China sales numbers in October were up 14 percent, assisted by a big jump in Mustang sales.

We had a strong October and we are headed for our best year ever for sales in China
“We had a strong October and we are headed for our best year ever for sales in China,” Peter Fleet, vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service, Asia Pacific, said. “We are seeing the benefits of a much more exciting lineup and an ever stronger focus on the wants and needs of Chinese customers.”

Ford and the companies it works with on joint ventures saw a sales increase with Edge, Explorer, Escort (yes those are still sold over there) and Focus all picking up steam. In total, these vehicles tallied 107,618 units sold accounting for the aforementioned year-over-year increase.

Overall Ford sales in China were up 14 percent, lead by a big increase in Mustang sales. Even the company’s commercial sales were up 29 percent.
Overall, sales of vehicles from Ford and its partner companies  in China were up 14 percent, lead by a big increase in Mustang sales. Even the company’s commercial sales were up 29 percent.

Most notable, of course, was that the latest Mustang showed a strong, 60-percent increase in sales versus last October. It was the latest Edge that led the charge, however, with a whopping 93-percent increase in sales.

While it might not directly affect us here, it is great to se that Ford (and the Mustang) are viable in other parts of the world. That will ensure that our favorite pony car keeps galloping on for years to come.
