If you think you’re a hardcore Mustang fan, we’d wager you’re still nothing like Jimmy Turiello “The Mustang Maniac” from Manhattan, New York who now resides in Weeki Wachi, Florida. “Since I was in high school, I have always loved Mustangs, I have had three Mustangs in my life, but that is not why I am a maniac,” says Turiello.
So how did Turiello get the nickname “The Mustang Maniac”? “I got the nickname because I started to cut out Mustang pictures from Mustang magazines and tape them all over the walls of my garage”, he says, “I spent thousands of hours cutting out pictures of Mustangs of all shapes and sizes and spent even longer putting them together on the wall like a jigsaw puzzle using scotch tape. I have completely covered the inside of my two car garage. Sometimes, I would spend twelve hours at a time, all night long, in my garage and in the hot Florida heat just to complete my task. Believe me, you have to see it in person. It is unbelievable!”
This feat may seem pretty simple to the average Mustang fanatic but there is more to this Mustang Maniac. Turiello was permanently disabled from a car accident thirteen years ago. As most people would engage in various activities and hobbies, Turiello has been limited to his choices.
Due to the car accident, he sustained brain damage and various physical injuries which have limited his mobility. Turiello needs to use a cane in order to walk and utilizes his wife Sheri as his main support to complete daily tasks. “I’m double disabled I call it. I’m all broken up and walk with a cane. My wife helps me a lot because I don’t know how to send emails and do a lot of internet stuff. I love Mustangs so much that I have her help me post pictures of my car on the internet so I can show people what I do to it. My only hobby and passion has been and always will be Mustangs,” he says.
Turiello’s garage, Mustang, and passion for the great American muscle car are truly one of a kind.
