As teenagers, we all wanted to drive a cool car. The reality is that most of us ended up with either a family head-me-down, or a Toyota Camry/Honda Civic. But a lucky few managed to stand apart from the crowd with something cool. Something classic. Something super-American, like a Ford Mustang. Unfortunately, these cool kids don’t always know how to drive.
My West Texas reports that a one-car accident involving a Mustang convertible ejected both teenage passengers, sending both to the hospital and leaving the driver in serious condition.
According to witness accounts the driver, a 17-year old girl, was driving the Mustang at a high rate of speed when attempting to merge onto I-20 when she lost control of the car and rolled it two times. The Mustang’s convertible top was down and the 13-year old male passenger was ejected from the car. According to police, he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.
The teenage driver suffered “major” head trauma, despite wearing her seatbelt, and is currently in critical condition. Even though it looks like a V6 Mustang, even basic cars can easily reach 100 mph these days. Our thoughts and prayers are with the accident victims, and let this be a reminder to us all about speed, and teaching our youngin’s to drive better than we did.
