The market for Shelby Mustangs has never been hotter, but not everyone wants (or can afford) to buy a trailer queen classic. Alas, the $55,000 starting price for the Shelby GT500 is also beyond the reach of many buyers, and unless you want to drive a Shelby-modified Dodge, your options are pretty limited.

So leave it to Shelby American to come up with an answer. The post-title Shelby GT package is back once again for budget-minded buyers looking to boost their Mustang GT’s curb appeal while adding some serious horsepower on a more wallet-friendly budget.

The base-level Shelby GT package has customers order a Mustang at their preferred dealer, which then sends it directly to Shelby for tweaking. Those customers will get a Shelby-branded exhaust, a Ford Racing suspension, along with a new intake and engine tune that bumps power up to 430 ponies. Unique wheels, tires, a Shelby short shifter and racing stripes complete the package, which can be had for about $45,000, about the same price as Ford’s discontinued BOSS 302.

Looking for a bit more oopmh? Shelby also offers two optional supercharger packages that boost both power and price. You can have your choice of either a 525 or 624 horsepower supercharger package that makes the Shelby GT a GT500 rival in both cost and performance. It was a popular package when Shelby first introduced it in 2007, but with many buyers holding off for the new 2015 Mustang, this package could be overlooked by many would-be Shelby owners waiting for December 5th.
