To Mustang fans, the name Jay Meagher (Pronounced Marr) is probably not of the household variety. However, for the hardcore Mustang fans, they know Meagher’s been in the game for quite some time. Meagher turned wrenches at one of central Florida’s most popular Mustang shops and raced in NMRA Real Street during that class’ short-lived heyday before branching out on his own with Real Street Performance (RSP).
Meagher had grandeur visions when he opened RSP, but over time he’s learned to adapt to current performance trends. At first, he just wanted to work on cars the way he wanted to, but then he discovered he didn’t really want to do that. Therefore, he shifted his focus onto mail-order parts, and projects that appealed to him. Meagher is one of those guys with a respect for any fast car, anything mechanical, and anything that is profitable for his business. But most importantly, he’s all about building fast cars.
And that’s where Meagher and RSP have come full circle, with a renewed desire to build fast cars to cement RSP in the street car game. With the new location, RSP has the shop space and warehouse room for parts to make it a one-stop performance shop. Meagher can still work on a Fox Mustang with his eyes closed, and while having a conversation about life, but he now has the people in place to do much of the wrench-turning. That way, he can do what he envisioned when he started RSP, which is to hire the right people, let them do their jobs, and have fun again building cars.
The new RSP shop is located at 120 Maritime Drive, Sanford, FL 32771, and you can reach them at (407) 695-7223. We’re looking forward to seeing some of the hot cars that come out of the new RSP shop in the coming months and years. We were on hand for the grand opening and already spotted several potential cars to feature, so keep an eye out for us.
