Regular readers already know that one of our favorite pastimes is scouring the internet (or in this case, Craigslist) for those deals on wheels. Sometimes we come across some really cool, turn-key stuff. Other times, we come across something like we see before us today — a 2009 Shelby GT500 that has unfortunately succumb to some pretty serious damage.
Obviously, we don’t know the full story here, but our guess is that this Mustang may have been sideswiped? How it happened is neither here nor there, but we found this Shelby was being offered at just under $14,000. So, we ask you, is that too steep of a price to pay?
Sure, this Shelby may not be the more desirable 2013-2014 model, but it hurts all the same when you see one of these special Mustangs down and out like this.
If you did buy it, what would you do with the car once you purchased it? Remember, these cars came with a 5.4-liter DOHC supercharged V8 pumping out more than 500 horsepower at the crank. Based on an iron-block and aluminum cylinder heads, these Four-Valve engines may not be as advanced as the 5.0-liter Coyote engines of today, but they can still power a really fast car.
We hate to see these cars down and out, but we have to ask ourselves, is this one worth saving? If it’s not, what would you do with it? Would you swap the engine and transmission into another project, or would you pass on this one completely?
To make your decision, you can find more info on this smashed Shelby on the original listing right here.
