ROUSH Performance has revealed details of their anticipated Stage 3 Mustang, which should be available for retail delivery by the end of this month. With an R2300 ROUSHcharger delivering 12 psi of boost through an intercooler, the 5.0-liter DOHC V8 engine now produces 540 flywheel hp and 465 ft-lb of torque.
Also new for the 2012 model is an updated graphics package with accent elements to compliment the base stripe colors. A broader range of car exterior colors is also provided. Exterior enhancements included in the ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang package include a newly styled front fascia with driving lamps, blackout graphic, billet grille and front splitter.
New side rocker splitters, rear valance, decklid spoiler and taillight blackout panel complete the exterior restyling. Updated badging and a ROUSH windshield banner ensure that the car will not be confused for something else. But, the Stage 3 Mustang is more than just visual. To compliment the power increase, the car also receives the full ROUSH suspension system, along with 18-inch wheels and Cooper 2XS tires.
ROUSH Performance also offers a wide variety of options and upgrades to the core Stage 3 configuration. Interior refinements include Stage 3 leather seating with embroidered badging, a vent instrument pod with boost gauge, cue ball-style or billet shift knobs, performance pedals and illuminated door sill plates. The signature trunk mounted ROUSH tool kit remains available, as do the company’s quarter window louvers.
A performance brake package is also available, providing 14-inch front brake discs and 4-piston calipers for the front. For additional stopping power, there is also a Competition Brake package that upgrades the calipers to 6-piston versions. New for this year is the ROUSH Competition Suspension System that replaces the car’s original suspension with a double adjustable coilover arrangement.
Pricing details were not released, although the company estimates that the “typically equipped” Stage 3 Mustang will be just shy of $60,000. While not currently available for delivery in California or other states requiring CARB emissions compliance, the Stage 3 Mustang carries a ROUSH-backed 3-year/36,000-mile powertrain warranty.
