The auto industry is notoriously tight-lipped when it comes to future product offerings. For one thing, no automaker wants to tip its hand too early, as the industry is ripe with corporate espionage and rumor-mongers who take every quip and spin it to their own devices. But when there is an exciting project in the works, it can be hard to keep those tight lips closed.
The latest loose lips to start flapping come from Ford’s SVT lead engineer Jamaal Hameedi, who spoke of his desire to bring back the Ford GT supercar, reports Fox News.
Though this is hardly the first rumor we’ve heard revolving around the Ford GT supercar, it is the most recent and reveals a few details regarding what SVT’s next move might be. In an interview with Fox, Hameedi reveals that the first project he worked on at SVT was the Ford GT supercar, which is very near and dear to his heart.
While Hameedi is adamant that these are dreams, and not set-in-stone plans, there have been rumors about a Ford GT comeback for some time now. These rumors indicate that Ford’s supercar will probably employ EcoBoost and hybrid technology to deliver performance and efficiency. We’re hopeful that Hameedi gets his wish though, and brings back the next Ford GT as a worldclass supercar, and sooner rather than later.
