Move over, Shelby GT500, there’s a new boss in town! The new Ford Mustang Saleen 351 is packin’ some heat, more heat than it’s sibling rival, the Shelby GT500. Crazy, right?
While the Shelby has been deemed one bad mama jamma straight out of those factory gates, the Saleen team has turned things up a notch producing a Mustang that will make almost 40 more horsepower than its next of kin. The brand new Shelby is a beast generating 662 horses, but the new Saleen 351 has just been announced to have 700 horsepower from a similar displacement engine.
This new Mustang will feature a 351-cubic-inch V8 motor connected to a supercharger and six-speed manual. The gears have been upgraded to 3.73s and brakes consist of 15-inchers to provide stopping power.
For the exterior, carbon fiber front and rear splitters were installed along with some 20-inch staggered wheels. One thing that really makes the Saleen 351 stand out is the functional butterfly hood scoop and an F1-style tail lamp.
All we have is this rendering and no actual photos of the new Saleen 351 since it hasn’t been seen at any of the big auto shows around the country as of yet. Pricing and release dates are still a mystery as well!
Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see when this bad boy is finally going to be unveiled by the Saleen team.
