What Mustang fan doesn’t want to own an authentic Shelby car? The name alone symbolizes power and performance, and anything with the Shelby name is an instant collectible. Unfortunately, that puts the price of an authentic Shelby car well out of range of the average auto enthusiast.
Luckily, Shelby has the answer in the form of the GTS package for 2012 Ford Mustangs. Production has started earlier than anticipated, reports Mustangs Daily, meaning you can get your own authentic Shelby sooner rather than later.
Apparently Shelby has been making good progress at streamlining their assembly line procedures, as production of the GT350 is ending at the same time GTS production is coming online. This has allowed Shelby to move from 2011 Mustang models right into the 2012 models, which will include the 2012 GT500. For the uninitiated, check out our initial preview of the Shelby GTS model.
Essentially, the $9,995 Shelby GTS package adds a Ford Racing suspension package, Borla exhaust, Baer brakes, and a unique deep draw hood. But best of all, it is registered as an authentic Shelby Mustang, adding value in the long run, and allowing even us average folk to own a genuine Shelby. There are plenty of options to pick and choose from as well, from huge rims to superchargers and whatever your little heart desires. But for about $10,000, the base GTS package offers a lot of value and should deliver exceptional performance to an already exceptional muscle car.
