A week now passed since the Ford presentation at the Detroit Auto Show, keeping things abuzz in the pony world, it appears the Shelby GT350 and GT350R order guide has surfaced. Believed to have surfaced via a member on the forum over at Mustang6G the guide codes the Shelby variants as 900A and 920A.
It’s tough to say whether this is the real form or a clever forgery, however the site was the first to report on many of the options and info on the 2015 Mustang, well ahead of its release. While it has been reported the GT350s will be labeled as 2016 models with the document clearly labeled as 2015 it could be possible we will see a first run as 2015s instead later this year.
The seven-page document, unfortunately, does not help to shine light on still unanswered questions such as the horsepower and torque numbers for the 5.2-liter flat plane crank V-8 powering the all new Shelby. With horsepower and torque listed as to be determined one must wonder if this document was a planned leak creating further hype and anticipation of an impending release into the market.
Both the GT350 and GT350R list standard equipment as a Brembo brake package, suede Recaro seats, Torsen Differential with 3.73 axle ratio, and 6-speed manual transmission. We also learn from the document the GT350R (920A) comes standard with carbon-ceramic brakes up front, and that the R model is styled with tires that are 10 millimeters wider on the front and rear (305s and 315s versus 295s and 305s on the standard GT350).
Also noted by way of the document the GT350 has the option to upgrade to leather /Miko suede that is available only via the Technology Package. Furthermore the optional Track Package for the GT350 (900A) adds strengthened front springs, transmission and differential coolers, a MagneRide suspension, lightweight metal tower to tower brace, and selectable drive modes.
Exterior wise both Mustangs will come available in Avalanche Gray which will be exclusive to the Shelby variant package. However the order guide appears to have eliminated both Ruby Red and Guard from the color palette options for the GT350 and GT350R. This a good preliminary peak of the all-new Shelby GT350 and GT350R options, order guides typically can change as we come closer to an official release. With the halo of the Mustang line-up now unveiled how would you order your GT350 or GT350R?
