In just a few weeks your intrepid writer will be situated at one of the largest new car shows in the world: the North American International Auto Show. Also known as the Detroit Auto Show, it is the cornerstone event of the American car show season, with each automaker seeking to put their best foot forward, and set the tone for the coming year.
Mustangs Daily reports that this year, Shelby American will get in on the new car action by unveiling a new Mustang-based vehicle for the 2013 model year.
We have little doubt that the new Mustang will be based on the 2013 model year, which was only unveiled a few weeks ago at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Shelby has spent a good deal of time on the auto show circuit in the last year, and it seems like they want to continue this new tradition with their attendance at the Detroit show.
So what does Shelby have in store? Well quite frankly, we haven’t got a clue. The most likely candidate is a GT350 based on the 2013 Mustang, but it could also be a new Super Snake based on the 2013 Shelby GT500, or perhaps even something with a V6 rather than a V8. We’re hoping its a new, 1000+ horsepower Super Snake personally, but we won’t hold out breath. Either way, we are excited for anything Shelby wants to show off, and we’ll be sure to let you know whats under the veil come 2012.
