Just last weekend, Ford Motor Company auctioned off one of its 2016 Ford Focus RS models at the Barrett-Jackson auction it Scottsdale, Arizona.
With Barrett-Jackson celebrating it’s 45th anniversary, this one of a kind Focus RS, being sold in gray, a color not offered in the normal RS pallet, brought plenty of onlookers to the auction – raising more than half a million dollars in the process.
The proceeds of that $550,000 auction were donated in full to an organization called JDRF. The organization’s mission is to help provide funding and research for the cure for type-1 diabetes. The research is also funded in over 17 countries today. Now it’s no secret that Ford is a fan of charities alike. The company has worked in conjunction with the Barrett-Jackson auctions over the years, generating plenty of buzz and plenty of proceeds with cars like the all-new ’16 Focus RS. Ford has also even had the pleasure of working with Ken Block during some of the auctions. Now that’s one heck of a marketing tool.
One thing’s for sure, we’re betting that the all-new Focus RS is sure to be a hit among blue-oval enthusiasts alike. With all of the technology that has been integrated into the new Focus RS, many of which is a first for Ford, we’re more than excited for the new owner to enjoy their turbocharged hot-hatch. Even at a hefty sum of $550,000, at least they can say it went to a good cause above all else.
Now that this Focus RS has been sold and assumably paid-in-full, we’re dying to know the ‘custom bits’ of what makes this ’16 Focus RS so unique. Care to take any guesses?
