When the 2015 Special Edition Freddy Van Beuren Mustang was unveiled by Ford, it was unclear above and beyond the 5.0 badging and exterior design sporting the Mexican livery, what if any additional upgrades or package options might be included with this instant collectible. Since that time, new information has surfaced.
Revealed at the Blue Oval Headquarters in Mexico City, Mexico, this limited edition design celebrates not only fifty years of the Mustang but also commemorates beloved Mexican race car driver Freddy Van Beuren. Van Beuren who piloted one of only 26 GT350 Rs’ built by Carrol Shelby Racing became famous on a world-wide scale with a championship win in the 1967 B-Production Race class.
With only fifty of the Special Edition Freddy Van Beuren units rolling off the assembly line five are said to have a performance package that includes a Kenne Bell Supercharger, an upgraded all chrome intercooler 3.73 gears in the rear for improved track and street performance. The additional forty five which do not include the performance package are said to have the option to upgrade to it if desired.
With an estimated price point at around $100,000 all but three of the Limited Edition Mustangs have been spoken for by private buyers and collectors at a pre-production sale a month ago. With only three made available for purchase through a dealer, Musclecar Corp, (which is the primary source in the Mexican market for high performance American automobiles), will offer the remaining three for sale to the international market come Mid-February. What would you pay to add one of these rare horse to your collection?
