The phrase “going postal” is not exactly endearing. It generally refers to someone who has gone off of the deep end, stereotyping individuals driven mad by the monotonous repetition of the post office. Of course, when a former postal worker does something crazy, it does nothing to dispel the stereotype of mail clerks “going postal.” And sometimes they get creative with their crazy.
WTSP reports that a Tampa Bay man began a demolition derby of destruction on public roads with his Ford Mustang, ramming 16 cars – including a police cruiser – before being brought into custody.
The rampage began when Ross Urso “intentionally rammed” a Tampa International Airport Police cruiser on Columbus drive. For the next three or four miles Ross drove his Mustang into a total of 16 vehicles, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damages before getting out of his car and walking along the sidewalk. When police confronted him, Ross attacked one of the officers, stabbing the officer with his car keys and breaking his thumb.
Ross, a former postal worker, was taken into custody and charged with numerous crimes. But let us be the first ones to remark on the resilience of Ross’s Mustang. The man smashed 16 cars with the Mustang, doing quite a bit of damage before the rampage ended. When asked why he did it, Ross reportedly responded that he was “tired of being run off the road.” Uh huh.
