In the past, Ford and other major manufacturers have lagged behind the aftermarket in terms of providing go-fast parts. In recent years though, they have gotten much better, to the point where they are beating most aftermarket companies to the punch with their own products. Take the supercharger upgrade kits for the Mustang GT and GT500. Ford claims the GT500 supercharger upgrade is good for 750 horsepower. Are they for real?

Apparently so, and then some. The Tasca Mod Shop out of Cranston, Rhode Island, has installed this supercharger kit on the GT500. The results were surprising and impressive to say the least.

The video, hosted by Carl Tasca Jr., goes over all the details of supercharger kit, starting with the new supercharger itself. They remove the stock Eaton blower and replace it with a 2.9 liter Whipple twin-screw supercharger with 19 psi of boost. This blower isn’t just bigger, but has a more efficient crusher inlet. This is fed by a dual-bore Cobra Jet throttle body from Ford racing and a 5-inch Whipple intake pipe. This all hooks up to a 123mm mass air flow sensor. An upgraded Ford Racing fuel system and engine tune tie it all together, and this monster can run on 93 octane. This is good for 750 crank horsepower, and costs just $6,295.

Like any good mod shop though, Tasca made a few modifications of their own, starting with the throttle body. Their dual 74 mm throttle body is bigger, allowing more air to flow through. They also replace the factory manifolds with American Racing 1 7/8^th headers. All together, Tasca claims that this car put 725 horsepower down at the wheels on their chassis dyno. That’s a lot of extra power from just a few modifications.
