The Rise of the Red Mustang Registry

June 6, 2013 marked the one year anniversary of one of the fastest growing Mustang interest groups of in recent years. Within the first year of its inception, the Red Mustang Registry (RMR) has acquired over one thousand registered members nationally and internationally, has been published in major Mustang magazines, and has been featured or sponsored by major media sites and Mustang product companies.  Since June 6, 2013, RMR has gained an additional five hundred members and has won the prestigious Largest Group Participation Award at American Muscle’s Mustang show held annually in Media, Pennsylvania.

RMR members have given back to their community with participation and donation to charitable events. Members have won hundreds of trophies and awards over the competition at local and regional car shows, cruising in parades across the country, and by acquiring key positions in Mustang enthusiast circles such as authors of major Mustang publications, officers of other Mustang clubs, and founders of Mustang related websites, companies, and business organizations. To say without a doubt, the Red Mustang Registry is a well organized group.

Steve Schatten’s RMR 001 “Angelica”

Founder and President Steve Schatten started RMR after attending a car show where he noticed almost every color of Mustang was represented. The only color that seemed to be missing was red. “After participating in the 2012 Ford Nationals in Carlisle PA, I noticed the presence of the Yellow Mustang Registry and the Black Mustang Registry. Being a red Mustang owner, I immediately began to seek out the Red Mustang Registry. Searching online, I found several existed but none were active and growing. Most had gone inactive or had such little activity and joining would not have satisfied my need.  So I went home and created the domain www.allredmustangs.com. The name I wanted was taken by an inactive site and the owner did not get back to me.  Shortly after I created the Facebook group. Officially, the registry was created on June 6, 2012. Within the first thirty days we had over fifty members.  Now we are over one thousand members strong with representation in forty-seven states and thirteen countries”, says Schatten.

Schatten started the Red Mustang Registry with one goal in mind- to promote any Mustang, any year or model, as long as it is red. Since the founding of the group, RMR has gained support from owners of various colors of Mustangs and all have been welcome to participate on the registry’s Facebook page. “We do not turn away Mustang fans just because they do not own a red Mustang. After all, some of our greatest supporters are friends, family, and other Mustang enthusiasts that own ponies of every color. We all share the same passion in the Ford Mustang. To be officially registered, however, you must own a red Mustang and that is how you get your RMR registration number. Our RMR family is growing and we couldn’t have done it without the help of all Mustang fans”, says Schatten.

RMR since its formation has contributed to their community in more ways than one.  Hosting an event to privately tour the Dover Monster Mile track, the group video taped their adventure and created a unique Mustang experience DVD to share with fellow members and supporters that could not attend.  The proceeds were utilized to benefit a restore the shore charity along the east coast thanks to Hurricane Sandy’s damage this past year.  RMR members are also contributing by volunteering and helping to sponsor car shows and charities nationwide in an attempt to improve car club relations, participation, and to increase the awareness of community unity.

If you are looking for a group with the motivation to make a difference, upholds the loyalty between members, and has a goal to return the Mustang community to the values of family and friendship, you have to check out the Red Mustang Registry at www.allredmustangs.com or visit their Facebook page. They are the new group in town and are flexing their muscle in the Mustang community.
