One drug dealer is missing his Ford Mustang, thanks to the Saginaw Sheriff’s office who seized the 2007 GT during a plea deal for a drug bust. We brought you this Mustang some time ago when this Mustang first hit the auction block. After the confiscation, it was given police livery and added to the collection as a patrol car driven by Sheriff William Federspiel. It served its time on the streets and was put on the website to gain some funds for the Saginaw police department.
With two failed attempts at selling the Mustang with a reserve of $15k, with the second attempt just missed by $100, they decided to throw it on again with no reserve and see what it fetches. Third time proved to be a charm with a dealer from Ohio purchasing the Mustang for $14,800, just $200 shy of the initial reserve.
Now that they have some extra funds for the department, first thing purchased was a NOVA shock shield – a $650 shield capable of 50,000 volts sending someone quite the shock. Why a shock shield? It will help inside jail if there happens to be a riot or some other emergency.
“We’re going to buy the shock shield immediately,” Federspiel said. “We already have it and we’ll authorize the payment now that we’ve tested it – on me.”
With another $14k available from the Stang sale, a staff meeting will be held soon to determine what the rest of the money should benefit. The plan is to not spend it all in one place.
Don’t be surprised if you see the Saginaw Sheriff’s old GT running around the streets of Ohio somewhere!
