We have to hand it to Ford. The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker has made it anything but easy to figure out what the next Mustang will look like, covering their test mules in massive amounts of camouflage while going to great lengths to talk up their next-generation pony car. But that has done little to stymie legions of dedicated fans armed with camera phones, Photoshop, and a vision of what the next Mustang should look like.
These Photoshop wizards have whipped up an impressive array of renderings that have evolved with the most recent information, and the latest rendering from the obsessive artists at Mustang6g.com seem to have nailed it. Folks, we’re pretty sure this is the 2015 Ford Mustang.
These renderings are no doubt based on the recently-revealed front fascia of the 2015 Mustang, and they seem pretty dead-on from what else we’ve seen and heard. While the Ford Evos concept no doubt influence the front end, the rest of the Mustang looks very Mustang-like, with similar lines to the current car, even though it is supposedly shorter and lighter than the outgoing model.
As for the back end, it displays the same three-dimensional taillights we have heard talk of, though the vertial tri-bars are still easily identifiable as belonging to a Mustang. This is also a look at the base-model 2015 Mustang; we’re sure once you move up into the GT trim, side scoops, hood scoops, and plenty of badging will be added along the way.
If this is the car, or even close to it, and Ford succeeds at pulling the promised 400 pounds from the current car, while retaining at least current power levels in the GT, then we’d say it’s going to be hit. Rumor also has it that the first Mustang photo teasers from Ford could hit the web any day now, and a full reveal could come as soon as December, although we’re thinking it may be at the January North American International Auto Show. Dare we hope?
