New Jersey Collectors Con occurred a couple weekends ago in Cherry Hills, New Jersey. At this event, Transformer movie fans came to buy and sell Transformer merchandise, dress up like characters from the movie and hang out with fellow Transformer enthusiasts.
Those who attended got a special treat with the appearance of Barricade, the Mustang police cruiser that appeared in the movie. Thanks to the Transformer World forum for bringing us the news and images from the event.
We’ve all seen remakes of the cars from Transformers, especially the Camaro Bumblebee. However, Barricade which appeared at the recent Collectors Con was not just a remake, it was the original car from the movie. After the first movie was complete, the car used for Barricade was sent to a car museum where it was auctioned off to a collector from the D.C. area.
For the Collector Con event, the current owner drove up to southern New Jersey so that fans could see the car up close and take pictures with it.
Many of us are familiar with the Transformers movie. In the Transformers series, beings from a different galaxy come to Earth and take the form of many different vehicles, including a Mustang and a Camaro, so that they are not readily detected. The first movie was so popular that a second one was made and a third is set to release later this year. It will be exciting to see what other muscle cars are used in the upcoming movie.
