Traxxas Making 1/16th Replica Boss Mustang RC

The first time the Boss Mustang came around in 1969, Ford built just under 500. Another 500 were built in 1970. The 2012 Boss 302 Mustang is coming back, and even though it is coming back in greater numbers, the rarity and cost put it beyond many people’s price range. It’s a shame we can’t all enjoy a real Boss 302 Mustang.

The next best thing might be surprisingly affordable. Mustangs Daily found out that Traxxas, a well-known maker of off-road RC cars, is going to sell a 1/16th size replica model of the 2012 Boss 302 Mustang.

Now lest you think this is just some lame, low-speed Wal-Mart RC car, know this. Traxxas makes serious on and off-road miniature vehicles and they even make a replica of Ken Block’s Ford Fiesta. This Boss Mustang RC car can go 30 mph right out of the box, and if you opt for all of the upgrades it can go over 50 mph. That’s right, a 50 mph RC car. Half the fun is building and upgrade and customizing your RC car.

In fact, this RC car has a few advantages over its real world counterpart (besides the lower cost). It is 4-wheel drive and all electric, meaning it is emissions free, clean, and able to scale rocks and tracks a real Mustang would never think about. The electronics are even waterproof! How durable is that? And they cost just $200. These start going on sale in January, just in time to trade in some Christmas sweaters for this sweet Boss Mustang RC car.
