When it comes to power and performance on the drag strip, many accomplished racers choose the reliability of turbocharger systems. Among them are names like Tim Essick and Mike Murillo that both run turbo systems on their race cars. But we’re not just talking about any turbos here- we’re talking about products from Turbosmart U.S.A, the California-based company that provides components for all your turbo charging needs as well as the service and knowledge to back it up. And it continues to pay off, launching customers like Essick and Murillo into winning positions on the track.
As the race season winds down, teams are scratching to get those last few wins in on the strip. But with the help of Turbosmart products, both Essick and Murillo have accomplished major goals on the track recently.
With a small-block engine in a 2003 Mustang, Essick may not seem to be much of a threat to unsuspecting competition, but with two Precision 88mm turbos from Turbosmart aboard, Essick’s Mustang is more than capable of crushing its big-block competition. And as we found out from the NMRA, Essick just recently proved it with his performance in the 10.5 Outlaw class at the Ford Fever Classic at Maryland International Raceway.
It was there that Essick made the quickest pass of his career, a 4.28 in the 1/8 mile at 171 mph, and qualified first in his class.
He went on to later win the event, competing against competitors with much bigger engines and turbo systems.
The weekend of November 2nd, Essick will return to MIR for the last race of the season, hoping to achieve as great of an accomplishment at the Import vs. Domestic World Cup Finals where his current 1/8 mile times could secure him low 6.50 1/4 mile times.
Essick wasn’t the only one to impress lately with his Turbosmart components, however. Murillo also races in the NMRA with his turbocharged Fox Body and recently doubled up on championship for the second year in a row. In Bowling Green, Murillo drove to the NMRA Pro Outlaw 10.5W title. Then just one week later, he raced his way to the NMCA Super Street 10.5W title at Indy.
While Turbosmart products are definitely making a name for themselves on the strip, they’re also performing unmatched in a different sort of drag racing- one that requires the use of sand tires. Earlier this month, the Turbosmart-equipped Pauter/Tavares Sand Dragster pulled out an amazing 2.797 elapsed time in a recent competition. Check out the amazing Turbosmart-equipped sand dragster in the video below.
When it comes to putting components on your racecar, you want quality that leads to results. Luckily, Turbosmart U.S.A. provides just that, but we don’t have to convince you. The proof is in recent drag racing wins.
