Two-Owner ’69 Shelby GT-350 Find On Craigslist

The Shelby Mustang has been one of the most sought after Fords for years, and just the mention of the name Shelby gets attention. In 1969, however, Carroll Shelby ended his agreement with Ford and the Mustang spent the next 30+ years without his involvement.

1970 was the last year for the classic Shelby Mustangs, with the 1970 models being left over 1969 models that didn’t sell. The FBI overlooked the transformation of the carryovers that were marked with 1970 VINs.

It wouldn’t be until 2006 that the Shelby returned to the Mustang stable, and the 5th generation Mustang was breathing Shelby fire once again. But for many years, the Mustang was missing out on the fame that Shelby brought to the original pony car.

Finding an original Shelby Mustang is a collector’s dream, especially when that car has changed hands very few times. Such is the case with this 1969 Shelby GT-350 that we found on Craigslist. This Shelby, #2745, is a two-owner car that has been with it’s second owner since 1984. It has only 54k miles with the original Black Jade paint and the original black interior.

The seller states that the original drivetrain is still intact, having never been removed for any reason. A 351ci engine propels this Shelby through a 4 speed trans, and the 3:25 rear axle gets the power to the ground. The owner says he has a replacement set of Goodyear Polyglas tires from the 70’s that could be a part of the deal for those who are seeking the original look.

The car is missing a couple small parts and the owner has a couple NOS replacement parts, but overall it’s a great looking car considering it’s 43 years old. The car also includes the original spare, jack and the inflation canister, though it’s probably better for aesthetics than actual use after all this time. The original sales documentation is also included. The car is currently in Denver, and the asking price is $63,900. Is it worthy of a price in that range?

With so many other survivor cars hitting the $100k+ mark from this era, it seems reasonable enough considering the condition of the car in general. The car sure cleans up nicely, and you even get to keep the Ferrari decal on the air cleaner, though we’re sure a purist would likely want to have that prank removed ASAP.
