Electric cars are all the rage these days as major automakers start to shift away from petroleum fuels and towards something cleaner. But electric cars are nothing new; some of the first cars on the road were powered by electricity, and automakers and DIYer’s have been toying with electric-powered automobiles for over a century. And sometimes the Ford Mustang gets caught up in this trend.

In this video we have an all-electric Ford Mustang dragster doing a pint-sized burnout. That’s because this is no real car, but a downsized drag slot car. Yes, they have slot car drag racing…and you can do it in a Mustang.

Slot car drag racing has picked up popularity in recent years, and much like modding a real Mustang, there are plenty of tricks and tips for padding the odds in your favor. People really get into these slot car ‘Stangs, and we found a few videos on YouTube that show why. For one, the burnouts are pretty impressive for a 1/24th scale model car.

And two, have you seen how fast these things go? Blink and you’ll miss them screaming down the track. That’s because electric motors deliver 100% of their torque at 0 RPM, meaning they are at full power right from the get go. That means these pint-sized Mustangs are hella-fast down the straightaway – almost too fast to watch! Now just imagine a full-sized electric Mustang dragster.
