Tom Barnes, Vehicle engineering manager at Ford, joins Jay Leno for a look at the new Boss 302 Mustang, Laguna Seca edition. This version of the recently announced Boss 302 Mustang is as close as one can get to an all-out race car that is still road legal.
With more aggressive suspension, chassis and aerodynamic tuning, plus R-compound tires, rear seat-delete, an aggressive front splitter and rear spoiler and rear cross-bracing, the Laguna Seca sits directly on the line that Cobra R’s of the past have ignored.
With advanced technologies now available, the Laguna Seca is capable of 1.03 G of lateral acceleration. Much of the development work for the car was completed using the BOSS 302R Mustangs that have been running in Grand Am competition this year.
