Many an athlete has an impressive car collection, whether it be full of classic Americana or modern European exotics. Yet even among athletic superstars, there is one man who stands head and shoulders above the rest…literally. His name is Shaquille O’Neal, better known as Shaq, and standing at 7 feet 1-inch tall, he is a massive man with a massive personality. He is also a huge Mustang fan…but being over 7 feet tall has kept him out of a Mustang for all of his life.
That is, until now. Last night on MTV’s The DUB Magazine Project, a show about the people and lifestyles surrounding some really extreme cars. And as it turns out, fitting Shaq into a magazine was a pretty extreme undertaking all its own.

It’s no secret that even though the Ford Mustang has gotten bigger over the years, so have many Americans. At over 7 feet tall, Shaq just won’t fit into a small sports coupe like the Mustang. Ahh, but Shaq has the means to make a Mustang that will fit him, and along with The DUB Magazine Project, Shaq had a custom Mustang created for him.
So how does one fit a Shaq into a Mustang? It’s more than just moving the seats back, although they were moved back about nine-inches. The project also necessitated removing the floor boards and gas tank (which was replaced with a fuel cell.)And there’s not much in the way of back seats anymore. But what Shaq wants, Shaq gets, and he got one hell of a custom Mustang that also happens to now fit his huge frame. Amazing what money (and fame and basketball skill) can buy.
