The Ford Focus ST may play second chair to the top-shelf Focus RS, but the former is certainly no slouch in the ultra-competitive hot-hatch market. The ST boasts 252 horsepower 270 lb-ft, and a nimble light curb weight of just over 3,200 pounds directly from Ford. Despite only having front-wheel drive those numbers make it a direct contender with the VW Golf R, Subaru WRX and EVO cousins.
Even with the generous power-to-weight ratio from the factory, you’re probably still feeling a little overshadowed by the monstrous Focus RS, well you don’t have to settle for that 252 horsepower anymore thanks to Flowmaster.
The company may be a household name for mufflers, thought of as purely a classic car sound, lending that musclecar grumble and roar to older machines. However, don’t be so quick to typecast Flowmaster, as its offerings have grown with the modern enthusiast.
The Flowmaster Delta Boost line of piggy-back tuners offer plug and play performance enhancement for the EcoBoost line of Ford powerplants. In the 2.0-liter turbocharged powerplant of the Focus ST, you can expect to see an additional four psi of boost translating into increased power and torque. The Delta Boost module plugs inline with the boost sensor and ECU, and is Bluetooth controllable from a mobile app.
Looking at the dyno graph overlays, it’s apparent that the ST picked up nearly 10 horsepower and 45 lb-ft of torque, while maintaining a flat curve with additional area throughout the powerband.
