You know how the old say goes– “one rotten apple spoils the whole bunch.” Unfortunately, a brand-new 2016 Focus RS was the only one to suffer at the hands of this rotten apple; as it appears the driver attempted a Ken Block style gymkhana-drift move using the car’s ‘Drift Mode‘ feature, only to fail by slamming his car right into the side of a hill.
You may be asking yourself, “is it really that black and white?” The short answer is, yes. And as you watch the video, you’ll begin to understand why. In fact, YouTube user Craig Media Productions event states that he warned the other drivers in their group (dubbed ‘The NY ST Club’) to refrain from driving any closer to where they were going to park to take pictures (and even suggested they resourcefully remove themselves from their position once this Focus RS went into ‘ape mode’).
As tragic as it is to see one of these awesome cars practically canned in a senseless accident such as this, the NYST states that this is not ‘typical behavior’ from its club members. “For everyone out there who wants to join the club, this is why we insist on meeting all prospective members first,” they said.
“Our club does not tolerate or condone reckless behavior, and unfortunately this person was in the club for a few months. Needless to say they are no longer a member. If you want to be in the club let this serve as a warning. If you even think of acting in a manor such as this, don’t bother. We don’t want you.”
On the other side of the coin, we’d really like to find out where this Focus RS is headed next, and swap the drivetrain into a first-gen SVT Focus. How about you?
