Remember when the original SVT Raptor hit showroom floors across the country back in 2009? Back when you could choose two engine options; a 5.4-liter V8, or the more badass 6.2-liter option? Ah yes–the “first generation” Raptor had an awesome run. Heck in 2011, Ford made the 411 horsepower 6.2-liter V8 standard across the board for the Raptor. It was an awesome truck, and still is by today’s standards if you ask us.
But there’s a new kid on the block now. The all-new “second generation” 2017 F-150 Raptor. And while Ford may have dropped the “SVT” moniker, they haven’t dropped the performance moving forward. The folks at Hennessey Performance even strapped a brand-new ’17 Raptor crew cab onto its in-house Dynojet dyno; and this Lightning Blue finished EcoBoost-powered truck put down an impressive 365.1 horsepower and 422.4 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
These numbers, while definitely impressive for a full-size truck, eclipse the numbers that the previous generation Raptor putdown–and by a good amount, too. The previous generation put down a respectable 331 horsepower and 344.3 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
But as John points out, what’s interesting about the all-new 2017 Raptor, and its equally as new 10-speed automatic transmission, is that the dyno pull made in the video was in fifth gear–as a one-to-one gear is somewhat difficult to find on these new transmissions. We think it’s safe to say, this truck might still have plenty of grunt left in it–and with a tune, we can only imagine the all-new F-150 Raptor eclipsing more than 500 lb-ft of torque. You can take that to the bank.
