It doesn’t get more patriotic than our friend Justin Pawlak doing a massive burnout in his S550 Mustang drift car – which is now equipped with an all-new racing livery for the 2017 Formula DRIFT season. JTP revealed the new livery on his social media platforms late last month, right in time for this year’s Formula D season to commence.
The season kicked off last weekend with the O’Reilly Auto Parts Round 1: Streets of Long Beach event in Long Beach, California, where more than sixteen different teams competed for the championship. Pawlak, of course, plays ball for the ROUSH Performance/Ford Performance team, which is leading in 2nd place at the time of this writing in the 2017 Manufacturer Championship Standings after the first event (15th overall).
“What a way to start the season,” said Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT in its press release. “With not only a capacity crowd, record numbers on the Livestream, but proof that Formula Drift is truly an international series where the best of the best come to compete.” Round 2 of the 2017 Formula DRIFT Pro Championship Season continues on April 28th – 29th in Orlando, Florida, for the third year at Orlando Speed World.
The track is comprised of challenges even most Formula DRIFT veterans may struggle with; but rest assured, Pawlak is coming prepared for war with his ROUSH supercharged Coyote-powered S550 Mustang. With big performance brands like ROUSH Performance, Ford Performance, Falken Tire and Lucas Oil backing Pawlak, it seems as though nothing is impossible for him and his team.
