Ford really knows how to craft a creative contest to get people engaged. Whoever is pulling the strings behind the curtain deserves a promotion. From the Fiesta movement to the Mustang MPG Rally to the Focus Rally, Ford is committed to engaging its current and future consumers. It is a great way to stir up interest in their cars, and the Blue Oval certainly has people talking.
Their latest offering is the 43Fiestas contest, where 43 contestants have a chance to win a Ford Fiesta. To help promote this contest, Ford has enlisted three living legends. Tom Petty, AJ Allmendinger, and Ken Block, the latter two squaring off in a burnout contest.
This is actually the 5th video from the contest…and in our opinion, by far the most interesting. With the venerable King Petty looking on, Allmendinger and Block compete in quite the burnout contest. Allmendinger goes first in his Fusion NASCAR, the sweet sound of the massive V8 engine filling our ear drums. The smoke show is no doubt impressive…until Block steps in.
Ken Block has built a career out of burnouts and power-sliding, so it should come as no surprise that he takes to this contest of smoke with gusto. Using his trademark slide-around-a-stationary-object (in this case Allmendinger’s NASCAR), Block obscures both cars in a wall of white smoke. While Allmendinger’s burnout was good, it is hard to compete with a car that is smoking not two, but four tires. We give this one of Block, but what do you all think?
