The Colorado Mile is a one-mile long event, with the final round held just a couple of weeks ago. It’s part of the US Mile Racing series, and the goal of the event is to post the fastest MPH in a specific class. Additionally, a secondary accomplishment is to set a new record, ultimately joining the mile club.

11225413_832247333559287_4670276742424555045_oGRWeir Racing is a well known aftermarket supplier of Mustang components. The company’s owner Jordan Weir set out to prove that he can take a stock chassis Shelby GT500 equipped with the right parts well above two-hundred MPH, and he did. During the month of October, Weir entered the Colorado Mile event (as shown in the video above). He was able to haul the GT500 all the way to a staggering 218.6 mph at the event.

As crazy as that sounds, that run was performed on a factory-equipped supercharger with no added nitrous. The engine was built by Holcomb Motorsports – with the factory supercharger being ported by Billet Pro Shop. Kris Starnes handled porting the heads and intake manifold. The car was tuned at Lund Racing, which is a well known and trusted tuner in the Mustang community.

The team over at London Chassis Dyno (LCD) are no strangers to building fast GT500s. Weir enlisted LCD to install the Weir Racing roll cage and parachute mount as well as set the chassis up for its 200-plus MPH attempt. Susepnsion modifications include select parts from BMR Suspension and QA1.

Weir’s GT500 uses the factory Tremec TR6060 transmission, and gear shifts come fast and preceise courtesy of a MGW shifter.

The engine build, tuning, and ported factory supercharger, definitely make for an impressive car. What’s even more impressive however, is that this package retains the amenities of a factory GT500. It’s a 100 precent street car, which retains factory functions such as air conditioning, power steering, GPS navigation, heated front seats, and even the rear seats. The car even uses the factory ECU.

The idea behind the car, is to basically have a car that’s as comfortable as possible, but capable of achieving insane top speeds. How awesome is that? Check out Weir Racing’s Facebook page for more information on the car, and the package it uses.

The next goal for Weir Racing is to break into the 220+ MPH range.
