If you’re a Mustang enthusiast, then you know exactly what kind of car a Shelby GT500 is, regardless of generation. We know owning one is definitely on our bucket list; so when we saw this unusually low priced 2008 Shelby GT500 on Craigslist in the Southern California area, we had to check it out for ourselves.
The ad proclaims that this particular GT500 is sporting 600 horsepower (albeit the ad doesn’t clarify if that is at the rear wheels, or the flywheel) thanks to a performance tune from a company called Performance Associates out of San Dimas, California. From the images of the engine bay, it looks as if the only visual modifications seem to be an aftermarket front strut tower bar and a K&N air intake. But with 600 horsepower, we’re sure there’s more to this Shelby’s story than just a simple bolt-on. In addition to the increase in power, this GT500 incorporates a set of aftermarket hood shocks, a clear bra, an aftermarket navigation head-unit, a Lo Jack system, and the OEM Shelby wheels have been powder coated with a polished/chrome finish.
With nearly 112,000 miles, the seller is asking $21,500 at the time of this posting. Keep in mind, this is a one owner car with presumably a clean California title; and while the asking price seems rather high, the seller says they are negotiable.
The real question is however, is this high-mileage 2008 Shelby GT500 worth the seller’s asking price? While these subtile upgrades certainly may entice a new owner, many enthusiasts may be put off by the milage and asking price.
How much would you offer for this high-mileage GT500? Check out the ad here for more details.
