One of the most common questions from our readers is how to convert an early small block Ford to hydraulic roller cam. The old method calls for drilling the intake valley to accept the late model 5.0L Mustang lifters and hold downs. It is a tedious process and requires the use of a reduced base circle camshaft, which further ads to the expense. Comp Cams has just made the conversion a whole lot easier with their drop-in retrofit roller lifters. The Pro-Magnum series lifters utilize a link bar to keep the lifter in position which eliminates the need for the factory hold downs. The lifters will work with a standard base circle hydraulic roller cam, and feature an anti pump-up internal design enabling them to be used in high rpm applications.
