James Bond will drive a Ford…

MondeoFord has reportedly paid movie producers $24.5 million to have the Ford Mondeo car used in the next 007 movie. “Casino Royale” will feature actor Daniel Craig as the new James Bond. His payment for the move is just over $3 million. While the primary car in the movie will be the Aston Martin DBS, the modified Mondeo ST 220 model will be used for chase scenes in the Bahamas.

The Mondeo is a Ford model produced and sold in the UK and parts of Europe. The ST 220 model utilizes the 3.0L 24-valve Duratec V6 engine. With the six speed manual transmission the car is pretty snappy, hitting 0-60 in about 7.5 seconds and capable of a 155mph top speed. Too bad the car isn’t offered in the US, it’d likely be more successful than selling Lincoln Zephyrs to the hip-hop crowd.

Why does the rest of the world get the good econo boxes? Thats the stuff that will give ford the money to bring back cool SVT vehicles and not just a bloated (3900lbs unloaded) overpriced yet cool mustang. The mondeo is also a little faster than my mach 1 was in 1969 from 0-60 with the 351w.

One wonders why Ford does not sell the killer cars they make in Europe and Australia in North America. With the lose of sales on what they offer they might have someone that has a clue? I wonder.

The reason we dont get these “cool econo boxes”?
Laws. The laws of the Highway Administration as to what you can and cannot have on your car to drive on their roads.

Ford would make a killing if they sold this car in the united states. My brother and I seen the movie lastnight and once we seen that car I thought it was really cool looking. So I looked online to see what it was because I never seen a ford car look like that. Too bad, Ford could have made 2 sales, Myself and my brother.

Pretty sad that ford is so crappy that they have to pay for someone to put another one of there crappy ass cars in a movie. And it makes me sad that the bond films would stoop that low.
