Just two days after a magazine interview where he suggested he would be open to someone replacing him as CEO, Bill Ford Jr. announced today he will be replaced by former Boeing executive as CEO of the Ford Motor Company.
Alan Mulally, 61, who heads Boeing’s commercial airplane unit, will become president and CEO of Ford immediately as the struggling automaker gets set to unveil a huge overhaul of its North American auto operations.
Ford has gone through major restructuring in the past year, gaining immense criticism from employees who view the massive layoffs and plant closures as a slap in the face to their decades of commitment to the company. However we have to commend Bill Ford Jr. for not overlooking his own job and performance as part of the restructuring.
Bill Ford Jr., the great-grandson of Henry Ford, will remain as the executive chairman.
I JUST READ OF FORDS INVOLVEMENT WITH THE HOMOSEXUAL MOVEMENT-I AM A MINISTER WHO ALSO SELLS AND REBUILDS OLD FORDS– I CANNOT WITH GOOD CONSCIOUS SUPPORT FORD ANY MORE AS LONG AS THE COMPANY SUPPORTS GAY MOVEMENTS-COME ON BILL HOW ARE YOU GOING TO JUSTIFY YOUR STAND ON JUDGEMENT DAY WHEN GOD SAYS IT IS A SIN AND ABOMINATION TO HIM–I WOULDNT WANT TO BE IN YOUR SHOES THAT DAY NOR ANYONE WHO CLAIMS TO BE GAY–IT WILL BE A SAD DAY TO FIND OUT HOW WRONG YOU WERE–I PRAY THAT GOD WILL OPEN YOUR EYES BEFORE THROUGH DEATH YOU STEP INTO ETERNITY TO MEET A RIGHTOUS GOD–BJ

By Dakota Heien. December 6th, 2006 at 10:50 amSome one needs to put some integrity back into the car business and get rid of the bean counter mentality. I want quality more than I want cheap junk!
By Robert. October 19th, 2006 at 5:32 pmThey kill off the Taurus, and Mercury is kept around for some reason…’nuff said. It’s gonna take a miracle to save Ford(and probably a lot of subsidies).
By Ted. September 7th, 2006 at 5:23 pmI commend Bill on his move. He is open to the idea that if a current system isn’t working, then it’s the structure that is in place that is causing the problems. He is the structure, it’s his and his teams planning that has created Ford’s structure, this structure wasn’t able to stop the Japanese from dominating the American Automobile Market.
Really, it’s not his fault, it’s the structure’s fault, and he’s willing to allow a different structure in because he realizes that “Structure influences behavior” (Senge, 1994).

American corporations.
Ah…these are cars, not airplanes. This guy has no idea how to run an automotive business. Now I see why Bill is sueing everyone over trademarks. Grab as much cash as possible then sneak over to the lifeboat before the Ford ship sinks. I think Bill needs to ask himself “what would Henry do”. Then do it!
By Ed. September 6th, 2006 at 6:00 amChange can be good BUT! This guy has sent all but Boeings finally assy overseas……….. And its his first CEO position………
And Fords designs are Japenese?!?!?!?!!?!!!!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?
My GOD that was funny!
By Wildo. September 5th, 2006 at 4:21 pmAbout Time!!!
By Ixtlan. September 5th, 2006 at 3:29 pmNow perhaps Ford will make American Designs instead of Japanese designs.
Well, change is good. Just have to wonder if Mulally’s Boeing experience will have any effect on Ford’s consumer marketing message.
Hopefully, the first thing he’ll do is make sure the “creative” people who are marketing the Freestyle as a “divorce mobile” are chained down.
