Ford has officially announced that it is selling the prestigious Aston Martin brand which it acquired in 1994. Aston Martin, based in England, is perhaps best known for the vehicles driven by James Bond. The high-end luxury sports cars are made in very low numbers. In 1992 Aston Martin made just 45 cars. Today they are up considerably to 4,500 vehicles per year, but still a drop in the bucket of Ford’s total global production. Only three models are produced, the Vanquish, DB9 (pictured), and V8 Vantage. While the brand was profitable analysts speculate that Aston Martin never really “fit” into the Ford processes. The sale would leave Ford with Jaguar and Land Rover as their ultra-luxury flagships.
I don’t get it. You punk out the THUNDERBIRD in 2000 with that peice of crap. A friend of mine showed me a picture a few years back of the 2000 THUNDERBRD that they want to build and it had the DB9 body style .He called me back and said that a girl and guy close to a girl are doing it now and I may not like it. So, I waited, and then that blood-fart came out. Know your selling a compony that’s making money for you. No full to mid size rear drive two door V-8’s, are you guy’s tring to get rid of your FORD GUY’s ?
By william grant. September 12th, 2006 at 11:00 pmGood Riddance! Instead of buying up ultra luxury rich man’s toy brands, how about devoting some resources to competing in thier core marketing, segment? You know, Henry I’s vison of affordable cars for the masses? Anybody remember that? Do you remember, Billy? Give us a reason to pass up a Toyota or Honda, and for Gods sake spend some money on Lincoln! Everybody knows the one true Lincoln is the Town Car, so update it and give people under 70 a true incentive to purchase one. You can’t afford to fall on your prats again like you did with the 500.
