Mallory Ignition Sends Out the Bounty

Here’s both a clever and brazen promotion we received over the wire. See for yourself in the following press release that Mallory Ignition isn’t afraid to take a shot across the bow of their biggest competitor in the red box ignition battle…

MALLORY “BOUNTY” PROMOTION
Cleveland, Ohio
April 5, 2007

Wanted Dead Or Alive - Mallory Ignition has put a bounty on MSD’s head, so to speak. Mallory’s latest promo promises to pay a $25.00 - $75.00 “Bounty” if a customer buys a new Mallory Digital Ignition Box (6852M, 6853M or 685) between April 1st, 2007 and December 31st, 2007, and sends the original purchase receipt and the bar code label from the Mallory package, along with their “Dead or Alive” MSD ignition box, (postage prepaid) to: Mallory Ignition - MSD Bounty, 10601 Memphis Ave., #12, Cleveland, OH 44144.

In return, Mallory will send a a $25.00 - $75.00 Bounty check, depending on MSD box returned: $25.00 Bounty for MSD 6200 & 6300, $50.00 Bounty for MSD 6320 & 6420, or $75.00 Bounty for MSD 6350, 6462 & 6520.

Compared side by side, the Mallory 6A, 6AL, and 6AL2 have the same wire color coding and mounting pattern as MSD’s 6A and 6AL analog ignitions for simple replacement. However, the Mallory 6AL Ignition has 1 stage of rev-limiting that requires NO chips for adjustment – unlike the MSD 6AL that requires extra-cost chips for specific RPM settings. The Mallory 6A, 6AL and 6AL2 ignitions also have 19% more spark energy, 10% more primary output voltage and 40% lower energy draw than comparable MSD boxes for maximum performance and reliability.

See a complete product comparison of Mallory vs. MSD ignition boxes.

Redemptions must be submitted by January 31st, 2008. The dead or alive MSD boxes become the property of Mallory Racing and will NOT be returned. MSD is a registered trademark of Autotronic Controls Corporation. Both the use of MSD and the likeness of the MSD ignition box are used for comparative reference only. Void where prohibited.

  1. I was a confirmed MSD user, until I got a Mallory Hyfire VI digital. It’s vastly superior to the MSD Digital VI. Built in boost retard capability (MAP sold separately), digital readout and rev adjustement, dead quiet, plus it’s got butt connectors at the box, so if you have to take it in and out of the car, you don’t have to disrupt your wiring. It rocks.

  2. Hey, is that Boba Fett? I get it, a bounty hunter. Wow, that’s an aggressive promo. I’m staring at my 10 year old MSD 6A and thinking about going for it. I always liked Mallory’s cases better.

  3. so i have had two mallory boxes crap out on me and although they were replaced and i at the moment i still have one i just bought a crane so we will se how that does i just dont trust mallory anymore

  4. As a VERY oldtimer I can remember when Mallory had the performance market almost to themselves. Sadly, over the years their quality and customer service tanked. Now, when the cow is out of the barn, they find themselves scrambling for a market share. I guess its time to pay the barbill. Best regards. John–Las Vegas.
