NBC announced today it is working on a two hour TV movie which modernizes the 80’s hit show Knight Rider. However, this time instead of KITT being a Trans Am, and Michael Knight being played by that goof-ball David Hasselhoff, KITT will be a 2007 Shelby GT500KR. Michael will be played by Justin Broening. Rumor is the movie will lead to a weekly series next season. Also some rumors floating around that in fact the car is really a plain GT and not a real GT500KR. This seems plausible to us, since there are likely at least a half-dozen cars used for filming. Highly unlikely they’d be real Shelby’s.
Can you tell me the brand of wheels that are used on the new Mustang in the Knight Rider series?
Regards
JR

By po. April 25th, 2008 at 10:29 amI think ya’ll are just jealous!!!! My last name is Rice and if you want to call it a Rice Rider, go ahead. Bring it to me and I will drive it all day long. Me and my wife currently own our 5th Mustang and have enjoyed every one of ‘em. Our newest one is a 2007 Mustang GT500, and until you experience the thrill. DON’T KNOCK IT!!!!!!!!!! The only truck I will own is a Dodge and the only car will be Mustang. Put that in you pipe and smoke it.
By james. March 1st, 2008 at 7:47 pmgreat movie… had a ‘78 mustang new… what’s next?? (movie wise) or when does the series begin??
By george. February 18th, 2008 at 12:13 pmAs a Ford fan (stroked big block Cougar and a big block 79 F100), this is awful. KITT should be a T/A. Sorry guys. What’s next, Starsky and Hutch in an Impala SS? General Lee as a 300C?
By Paul P. January 21st, 2008 at 11:27 amActually I was about 12 when the first series came out and honestly at times I even thought it was pretty stupid. Even Dukes of Hazard seemed a bit juvinile to me by 13. Now I can’t watch any of the retro shows. If I was forced to watch any of that stuff, I think I could tolerate Chip’s and maybe a few episodes of some of the others ala BJ and the Bear. The wing is gross, the front end is not too bad though - too blingy for me but I can see folks liking it.
By kblackav8or. January 14th, 2008 at 11:08 pmI think the goal is for it to look fast and to those who know bupkis about cars I think it hits the mark. Hey Cam Benty.. I’d love to see behind the scenes pics if you’ve got ‘em, that’d be rad.
By Chris. January 4th, 2008 at 12:31 pmI think the front looks great (wow!), it could be the rear that some of us didn’t like but what the hell… maybe they still haven’t started filming it yet and they would change the appearance just before that. Anyway, I can’t wait to see this film, just because it’s about a black Mustang and not another Pontiac!
By Zak. January 3rd, 2008 at 12:36 pmI think it looks pretty darn Good myself and can’t wait to see what can be done with it. It is a work in progress as with all movie cars. Be thankful it isn’t another Reality Show.
By oldmustanghotrodder. January 2nd, 2008 at 8:19 pmTo the people saying basically, “at least it’s a Ford and not a..” I’m curious.. do you really want something that ugly to be a Ford product and not someone else’s? Do you think ugly is good for business?
By Ben. December 31st, 2007 at 12:42 amA message to all the haters-
GO GET BENT !
By The Hoff. December 30th, 2007 at 4:02 pmthe car looks sad
By keith o ft. myers FL.. December 29th, 2007 at 1:02 pmI watched these cars go together over two weeks at the “car prep” location. Saw the delivery of the cars and all of the stunt mods. Including the arrival of the GT500R.
Let me know if you want to see.
By Cam Benty. December 29th, 2007 at 10:04 amCom’mon guys lighten up. I think it will be pretty cool to see some good tire smoking Stang chase seens. They could have picked any car (like a Corvette Z06), so be glad they chose a Ford. I was never a big fan of “The Hoff” myself, but I’m looking forward to the new version. I know my 8-year old son will love it too.
By Jim Carroll. December 29th, 2007 at 7:24 amCome on guys. Think about what you are saying. Who do you think the intended audience is? Kids, just like you were during the original series. They have no interest in seeing a stock Mustang, not even a GT500KR. Just be glad it’s not a Honda.
By blksn8k. December 29th, 2007 at 6:17 amAnyone ever heard the term less is better. I mean really all the wings and accessories in my opinion is going to be a real turn off to anyone over the age 12. Loose the park bench wing and all the headlight and fog light spoilers for crying out loud.
By ollie. December 29th, 2007 at 5:53 amCome on guys. Think about what you are saying. Who is the target audience for this show? Kids, just like the original series. They would not be interested in seeing a stock Mustang, not even a GT500KR. Just be glad it’s not a Honda.
By blksn8k. December 29th, 2007 at 5:47 amBreak-out the chop sticks boys… we’re in for a long ride. Look at the bright side, at least it’s a Mustang and not a piece-a-chit Chebby…
By marzz22. December 26th, 2007 at 9:12 pmTo my knowledge the GT500KR does not come out until ‘08
By Mustang Man. December 23rd, 2007 at 9:11 pmI think it looks great! In keeping with the Knight Rider tradition of overkill in the design department, the Mustang seems to be the pinnacle of all futurists and techies in the industry. Not sure what fans of the original car will think, but whose idea was it anyway to use the T/A? I think it should have been the street terror Fox body even back then…
By trinogt. December 23rd, 2007 at 7:44 pmIt does need some wing deletions checked. Just have the regular one on back. They should only use GTs, don’t destroy some KR500’s. But atleast they aren’t destroying a bunch of 90’s Trans Ams. They should have Clint Eastwood’s voice be Kitt. “MIchael, make my day!”
By torinoluvr. December 20th, 2007 at 8:25 amThey could have David Hasselhoff play Devin, the British head of the Knight corp. Or Michael moved up to replace him. Michael Jr. Could be the new Knight Rider. Michael Sr. married the female mechanic, and had a kid.
mabe a fully blacked out shelby gt 500 super snake would look better.. also loose the ricer wing and some black rims would be better 18s or 20s
By Cesar. December 19th, 2007 at 6:48 pmthat has got to be the ugliest stang I’ve seen in a while. Whoever designed that monstrosity needs to lay off the coke.
By CrimsonKing. December 18th, 2007 at 6:12 pmDoes the car “Talk” with an Enlish accent or like Vin Diesel?
By Erick. December 17th, 2007 at 8:45 pm“Knight Ricer.. a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man.. with an ugly car..”
Seriously, that looks as bad as the whole “super pursuit” nonsense they did later on.
By Ben. December 17th, 2007 at 7:41 pmOr call it The Fast and Furious Rider
By lewy. December 17th, 2007 at 5:17 pmYeah, umm, get rid of the DOUBLE DECKER WING on the rear, the SIDE WING on the rear of the rocker panel, the HEADLIGHT WING off the headlight/marker divider, and for that matter the marker lights above the headlights that make it look more like a Mopar than a Ford, and MAYBE I’ll watch it. Holy crap, what is the world coming to? That car has more wings than the entire Fast and the Furious trilogy!
By Motrhed. December 17th, 2007 at 2:53 pmWait.. I got it: Knight Ricer.
By Ben. December 17th, 2007 at 12:14 pmWhy not just call it Rice Rider..?
