You know these days, thanks to GoPro cameras and the prevalence of camera phones, it can be easy to get carried away with crazy special effects and fancy angles. Add to that a few autotuned songs and text overlays, and you’ve got yourself some real YouTube cannon fodder. These days, sometimes less really is more.
If you’re looking for an over-the-top video with action, explosions, burnouts, and bikini babes, then keep looking. But if you’re in the mood for some mellow music and a slow-moving look at two gorgeous Shelby Mustangs, then you’re going to want to stick around for this video.
While the introduction brings viewers in with a voice over and appearance by Mr. Carroll Shelby himself and raises the expectation that we’re in for some high-horsepower shenanigans, this video is anything but. Instead we are treated to a rare, low-and-slow look at the detail and craftsmanship that went into these two Shelby Mustangs, both ‘68 GT350s.
Even the light rain that fell during the video shoot only enhanced the elegance of these two Shelbys, and it really gives us a different perspective on cars we usually think of only as speed machines. But they really are works of art, each a labor of love and dedication, and sometimes you have to slow down a very fast car to really appreciate it.
