Video: Ford Flex EcoBoost Runs 12.60s, Wrecks Camaro SS

Take one 2011 Ford Flex Titanium EcoBoost AWD, add a dedicated fuel system, an AIRAID cold-air kit, a Dynotune 150-horse nitrous kit, and a Nitrous Outlet Progressive controller, and what do you have? The World’s Quickest Flex. Add in a little bit of Metallica to get the party started, along with a few GoPro cameras, and the effect is complete. This car’s owner bills himself as the world’s quickest Flex, and from our research, we’d have to agree with him. 12.60’s from a family hauler is awesome and even better when that hauler clicks off the ET while huffing a big dose of nitrous and kicking the snot out of a Camaro SS in the other lane. The blacked-out Flex sports a great stance and sound – we’d be proud to fill up the driveway with one like this. 

Ford’s unique Flex full-size crossover vehicle blends the styling of a futuristic station wagon with the handling of an all-wheel-drive sure-footed chassis. It comes out of the factory with a twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 355 horsepower and runs 0-60 in only 5.6 seconds – quicker than the Fox Mustangs so many of us grew up driving. The six-speed automatic transmission has column-mounted paddle shifters, making this factory-built hot-rod even more racy. 18 MPG combined, according to Ford, and with SYNC onboard along with the option to add a refrigerator (!) this is perhaps the best tailgating vehicle Ford’s offered in some time.  Enough room inside to hide all of your buddies on a trip to the drive-in, and still keep that nitrous bottle around for late-night boulevard fun.
