Anticipation for the next-generation Ford Mustang due out in the spring of 2014 is growing with every passing day. This is especially true now that spy photographers and eagle-eyed Internet denizens are snapping photos of Mustang test mules in the wild. In today’s day and age where every phone is also a camera and a video recorder, it can be all but impossible to hide an anticipated test mule.
So it is that a reader to CarScoop stumbled across a treasure trove of Ford test vehicles that included a new Ford Mustang, as well as a 2013 Ford Fusion, and a small pickup truck with “Ranger” emblazoned on the tail gate. We don’t even know where to start!
Well that’s a lie; let’s start with the Ford Mustang, which appeared to have some sort of active shutter system on the front grille. While the reader reported that the Mustang said “5.0” on the side, it sounded more like a V6…perhaps a twin-turbo V6, hrm?
Then there is the small truck called the Ranger. As we all already know, Ford killed the Ranger last year…but could it be making a comeback in the states? Overseas a new Ranger is already for sale, but Ford has not indicated whether they’ll revive the revered name stateside.
Also on hand were the 2013 Ford Fusion, as well as a small crossover (EcoSport?) with Japanese emblems. Makes you wonder…what is Ford really up to these days? Looks like a lot of fun stuff to be sure.
