This year The Texas Mile standing-mile event relocated to the Victoria Regional Airport in Victoria, Texas, and the new setting seems to suit Mark Heidaker’s record-setting 2006 Ford GT. With a revamped combination and a new racing surface, this turbocharged machine set a new record by running over 293 mph, making it the fastest standing-mile Ford GT and setting a new Texas Mile record.

Suspension and Aerodynamics: Ahlman EngineeringNot willing to rest on their laurels, Mark and the team at M2K Motorsports upgraded the supercar’s Accufab Racing 5.4-liter combo, which breathes through a Wilson Manifolds intake and features a new turbo system featuring stainless steel headers and several titanium pieces. The combination was already good for well over 2,000 horsepower, but when you are looking to set records, more is always better.
After warming up with a 282.2-mph run that was just shy of rival Johnny Böhmer Racing’s record — the Guinness World Record for fastest standing mile in a street car at 283.232-mph — Mark and the M2K crew came back with a run that would leave no doubt who owns the speediest Ford GT on the planet by running over 10-mph faster at 293.6 mph. They accomplished that feat with the factory Ford GT bodywork. Only the mirrors were deleted in the name of aerodynamics, which shows what a great job the Ford designers did with this car.

Indeed it is. At this point, the race is on to see who can top 300 mph in a Ford GT, which is definitely a testament to modular-engine performance.
