These days there are more ways to go racing than ever, catering to every crowd from the weekend warrior to the semi-professional racer (who just happens to be an accountant or something similarly boring by day). If you think you’ve got the chops to trade paint and racing stories with some of the best drivers in the country, then we have just the ride for you.
This 1995 Mustang Trans Am race car is a full-on, tube-frame race car found by Bangshift on RacingJunk.com. The cost? Just a shade under $100,000. If you’re up to the task of wrangling an 825 horsepower Trans Am ‘Stang, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better race-ready ride.
The big draw here is the detuned NASCAR engine, a Roush-Yates 358 rated at some 825 horsepower. That’s a monster no matter what way you cut it, and comes with not one, but two Weisman shuttle-shift five-speed transmissions. Behind the tranny is a Winters 9-inch rear end with brand new Speedway axles already installed.
The low-drag, Roush-style body is a combination of carbon fiber and Kevlar, giving it great strength but not a lot of weight. The car also comes with spare tires, axles, and a host of other bits and pieces to ensure it’s all ready to rock on race day. This is close to a complete package; all you need is a trailer, a racing license, and about $100,000 to spend.
Or might we propose an alternative. Get four of your buddies in on it, and now you’ve not only got a racing team, but the price has gone down to only $20,000. Why, you’d be crazy not to buy this Trans Am Mustang! -See we talked you into it.
