Everybody in the Mustang world has been talking about the 2012 Boss Mustang, and for good reason. Not only is it the return of an iconic name, but it puts a Mustang with a racing pedigree into the hands of anybody who can afford it. Alas, these Boss Mustangs are going to be produced in extremely limited numbers, though how limited, we don’t know yet.
If MustangsDaily is to be believed though, Border’s online bookstore may have just unintentionally leaked production numbers for the 2012 Boss Mustang.
Borders recently posted a listing for a new book, entitled Boss Mustang: Return Of The Baddest Mustang Of All Time. The book is set to go to publish in April (which says to us that the book itself likely isn’t even written yet). The book details are about what you might expect, detailing the history of the original Boss Mustang (designed by Larry Shinoda) and what set them apart from other Mustangs and muscle cars.
Of course, what really caught our eye was the last sentence. “As with the first iteration, the new Boss Mustang will be built for two model years only, and just 4,000 cars will be produced each year: 3,500 street cars and 500 “R” race cars.” If that is true, that means you had better get your wallets ready. Ford sold out of the 2011 5,500 Shelby GT500’s in just a few weeks, and we imagine those Boss Mustangs won’t last on showrooms lucky enough to get them very long.
