Try as we might, we can’t help but be afflicted with the dread “grass is greener” syndrome that plagues many car enthusiasts. That is, the cars that we can’t have always seem cooler than the ones we can have. It gets us especially worked up when an American automaker delivers an awesome new car to a country like Australia, where vehicles like the Ford Falcon are envied by many American car enthusiasts.

So it is that we are again struck by envy, though it isn’t the Aussies who are getting the better end of the deal this time. Ford revealed a new Focus ST wagon designed specifically with the UK’s police officers in mind. So Ford, how about us regular American consumers?

The Ford Focus ST Wagon is equipped for both regular patrol and pursuit duty. Equipped with light bars and all the equipment the UK’s bobbies need, the Focus ST is a ridiculously practical police car with plenty of speed to ensure bad guys think twice about running. Ford also included an onboard mobile data terminal, basically a portable computer just for the cops.

While the outside looks official, under the hood it is all business thanks to the 247 horsepower 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine. With a 0-60 mph time of just 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 154 mph, this Focus ST wagon won’t be outrun by many baddies. Even though British police don’t carry weapons, there is room for a full arsenal of equipment in the back end of the Focus ST wagon.

The only question we have is when does the Focus ST wagon come back home to the U.S.? Or is the American wagon really dead and buried?
