When we talk about wheels, we are usually talking about dubs or spinners and whatnot. But in this case the wheels we are referring to is wheelchairs. When a person loses the use of their legs, they lose access to a lot of privileges many of us take for granted. Privileges like driving your own car, and driving it fast.
Thankfully though, there are organizations like the Cal-Diego Paralyzed Veterans Association Motorsports. The Mustang News reports that this group of gearheads has put together a special program for disabled men and women who want a chance to drive a high performance car through a track, despite the loss of their legs.

The organization fields a number of Roush-ified Mustangs, as Roush has stepped up as a signature sponsor for the group. These Mustangs are equipped with high performance modifications as well as hand controls and automatic transmissions. This allows disabled drivers to pilot the Mustangs with all the control and speed they can handle.
A favorite among the drivers is a 2009 Roush 427R Mustang, though a Ford Raptor and a couple of classic Datsuns are also available for driving. This is just another example of the gearhead community giving back, and it makes us proud to be auto enthusiasts.
