With SEMA 2012 in the history books, it is time to reflect on all we’ve seen and learned while at one of America’s wildest car and parts shows. Every year SEMA offers something a little bit different, and one of the bigger stories was the High Gear Mustang. Built entirely by a team of women from the SEMA Businesswoman’s Network, High Gear was selected to appear at SEMA and to be auctioned off to support a charitable cause.
Now that SEMA is over, the High Gear Mustang is up for grabs on eBay. You can rest easy knowing that if you buy this Mustang, you’ll be supporting the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund, which looks to shape the next generation of automotive industry leaders.
Also, you’ll end up with a wickedly cool car. This 2013 Mustang GT has an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger atop its 5.0 liter V8 engine, sending plenty of torque to the rear wheels. The suspension, interior, and exterior are all extensively modified, as well, offering a spirited driving experience that also looks good on the move. While one may have stereotyped a pink Mustang from a bunch of female builders, instead the High Gear Mustang looks stunning in black with gold accents.
Times are a-changing, and while cars may not have the same youthful appeal they once did, more women are finding themselves turning the wrench and under the hood. After all, it was the Mustang’s popularity with women that helped it launch with such record sales. Bidding is currently at over $35,000, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it hit $50,000 or more when the auction ends.
