There are many flavors of Ford Mustang out there for all tastes and preferences, though nearly everybody finds a lot to like in the 1965-70 model years. These cars are constantly being modified, restored, and resto-modded into much cooler, sleeker, and meaner vehicles than they ever were from the factory. Today, there is no limit to what customizers can do with a blank Mustang slate.
We’re not sure if it was the murdered out, all-black look, the sexy Shelby body parts, or the awe-inspiring 478 cubic-inch big-block V8 under the hood that first got our attention. But today’s eBay Find of the Day just has that look that sends shivers down our spine, in a very good way.
Sure, it probably isn’t a real Shelby, but these days building a Shelby clone isn’t all that hard. The taillights, GT500 badge, and the Eleanor body kit all improve on the already-gorgeous lines of the 1967 Mustang, while the flat-black matte paintjob just absorbs all light and attention around it. It’s the kind of car a Mafia hitman might drive.
Stopping power comes from some huge 12-inch Wilwood brakes, while the rear-end is your standard Ford 9-inch with 3:50 gears. A Tremec 5-speed 600 series transmission sends the power from the 478 engine to the rear wheels. In case you’re wondering, the 478 is a bored-and-stroked 428, so yes, this Mustang has nearly 500 cubic-inches of torque-creating power at its disposal.
The asking price for this unique Mustang? $159,000. Sure, it’s pricey, but this Mustang has a presence that would be almost impossible to replicate.
