Ford has sold literally tens of millions of Mustangs over the years, making it one of the most popular and prolific cars in the nation. Even so, most Mustang owners take a certain pride in their car, and even those who don’t are often stuck with boring base models that nobody really cares for anyway. Nothing bad ever happens to rare, valuable Mustangs…right?

Wrong. Today’s eBay Find of the Day is proof that no Mustang is immune from neglect, as this 1993 Mustang Cobra needs near enough a total restoration to be worth much of anything once more.

The eBay Auction ended at $4,500, apparently not enough to meet the reserve. If you ask us then, the reserve is much too high. At some point in this Mustang’s life, somebody just stopped giving a damn about it. Faded paint and worn-out tires are one thing; but the interior needs to be pretty much entirely replaced. Those were a very hard 140,000 miles, that is for sure, and this car needs a whole lot of new parts to bring it back to collector car status.

Granted the seats of Fox-body Mustangs aren’t known for their longevity. But it is rare to see a Mustang, and especially a Mustang Cobra, so obviously left to fend for itself. Is it that hard to throw on some seat covers or not park it in the blistering sun? What happened? Did a former owner not know what they had? Did they not care? We wish we had answers, but all we have are questions, foremost among them…why?

At least it wasn’t something REALLY rare, like a Mustang Cobra R. Can you imagine trying to restore one of those?
